Did you know GMAIL has built in functionality that allows you to give people different email addresses that will still land in your inbox? No further action needed other than providing them the email you want them to use.

If you append a plus ("+") sign and any combination of words or numbers after your email address.

For example, if your email is fredrik.deboer@gmail.com, you could simply ask people to send mail to fredrik.deboer+SubscriberWritingJuly@gmail.com or fredrik.deboer+DefundPolice@gmail.com and you'll get those emails.

The value in being able to manipulate your email address is:

1. You can create filters to automatically handle them (archive, label, forward, delete).

2. With or without auto-filtering, you can search on the address to pull up all the mails that landed - "to:SubscriberWritingJuly".

As a wider benefit, you can also use this when you provide an email anywhere that will generate mail you want separated from your main mail feed:

"+donation" when you give money. Filter to auto-delete.

"+VIP" when you give your email to someone you never want to hear from again. Filter to auto-archive

"+substack" when you sign up for newsletters. Filter mails out of the inbox to a "newsletter" label.

I appreciate it! This is the reason why I have people email the fredrik.deboer@gmail.com address - keeps it separate from my main email.

I'm so glad I fired off this one story to you. Even as it was sitting in my draft box waiting for a call-up. LOLOL
