The thing is that I am willing to be (let's say 20%) too pessimistic in an environment in which most people are being 100% too optimistic.

I think one thing that *humans* suck at is the ability to predict how much any given technology will "change the world", however you want to define it. Tbh I try to stay away from pessimism or optimism about the outcomes of AI. But no matter its ultimate impact, the biggest concern I have with AI is keeping it open source, because our odds of positive outcomes for humanity are much better when ML and these models don't just become exclusive tools of the most powerful Silicon Valley giants

What do you mean by open source? Usually that would refer only to the human-written program source code. In addition to that, AI solutions often depend heavily on one or more models trained with huge and/or well-curated sets of data collected and processed at great expense.

They will wield it to devalue human labor, first and foremost. As if that is the most pressing issue of our time. тАЬHumans are making money from skills and work. We MUST stop them! Useless eater/breeders.тАЭ

I find the whole thing a most misanthropic endeavor.
