This is a tough one for me. If we're arguing technology, well, Freddie has argued in the past that technological change last century was more influential rockets, cars, etc. than iPhones, communications, etc. I disagree with him there, the information revolution will be way more important and influential than the industrial revolution, in a way we can't predict. It would be like knowing in advance the changes the printing press will cause. But I don't think that's what he's addressing here. I think this is more on a personal level, and in that case sweeping historical events don't matter as much. Our particular time and place will always be the most important because it's the one we live in. It's all relative, there are no absolutes. A hunter gatherer would see changes that happened in his lifetime that to us would seem negligible, but to him, because of the time he lived, the changes would seem monumental.
