“If we believe that racial diversity translates to a diversity of perspectives on scholarly questions and heightened sensitivity to the diverse needs of students in the classroom, why should we be embarrassed to select people in pursuit of those benefits?” I think the Supreme Court will have a definitive answer to this rather stupid question soon. It’s clearly unconstitutional.

Matt Saccaro, R.S. Benedict is definitely correct about squeecore, but the debate is so terminally online that I fear that performative snark just replaces performative squee... of course, fiercely transgressive and interesting speculative fiction proves their point by sheer force of contrast and I appreciate that Benedict (and others in the debate) also write such fiction themselves.

Joshua Furst's article is a remarkably vivid piece of writing and had me shivering by the end of it. My PhD was on Czech puppetry animation (!) so I know all too well the power of puppets!
