We haven't even mastered being human yet, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't undertand the rush away from human capability. Is the illusion that AI will do things perfectly so attractive? Regardless, AI will be made in our image. What this means is that AI will reflect our values, our triumphs, and our failures in terms of bias and also in terms of limits to our cognition and imagination. It will be us - just faster and more amplified - and slightly warped. Humans are more than beings who sift through mountains of data.

This is exactly right: “…learning facts is an indispensable part of creating the mental connections in your brain that drive reasoning.” This applies to intuition as well. Intuitive leaps occur when a deep pool of knowledge and experience meets a moment of insight/inspiration. I dare any machine to replicate this.
