Lots of ongoing Covid neurosis in that list I see. I also note that "White people should not use any variation of racial slurs at karaoke" and "White people should always clearly pronounce 50 Cent." Glad to see that Asians and other non-blacks have an implicit all-clear!

Thanks for the song choice, I had never even heard the original by American Football before. Really liked them, they sound kinda like the Samples!

"What’s frustrating about the book is that, again and again, scientists recognize the potential for things to go very wrong, and then fail to do anything, holding panel after panel but never developing enforceable policy."

As a human being, I generally agree with you here but as a scientist I wonder who exactly should set these rules on a world wide basis, how they could possibly be effectively enforced, and how we could possibly revise these rules in a timely enough manner to reflect the continual improvement in our understanding...

I got my wife a NY magazine for Christmas this year. We just got our first issue this week. She made me read through this article several nights ago as it was so interesting...

Did you hear about the downfall of the pathetic Nu-Gawker? TCW won utterly, and it is awesome to behold.

I think you are right about the Eagles, but for a different reason. Why hasn't anybody pointed out that a GREEN comet (first time since the Stone Age, some claim) passes by JUST as the EAGLES get in the Super Bowl (not quite as rare, but rare enough)? Now, I am not superstitious and don't generally subscribe to omens, but I don't need my face pushed into one either. William the Conquerer's victory at Hastings was presaged by a Halley's, seems like a Super Bowl wouldn't be that big a chore for a comet.

"Accents aren’t “cute.”"

These people do really live in a different realm. Most of the "advice" obviously comes from a place of being extremely-online, and for that I pity most of these advice-givers. They simply don't know any better.

Your advice is good tho, Freddie.

EDIT: I just got to the worst one -

"Never ask anyone what their job is.

It’s classist and boring. Try three other topics first."

These people are clearly body/mind dualists. They reject completely the idea that we are embodied creatures, and the work we do (or don't do) with our bodies and brains is fundamentally important in our lives.

I couldn't keep reading after 12. I hate these people. But I read yours and yours was good.

I hope never to be in a milieu where these are the rules of politeness people live by. Talk about being out of touch with reality
