I’m not a Luddite in my teaching. Tech is just another tool. But it seems that tech is really interested in education and education is interested in tech in the abstract. I’m a career changer so teaching has been a weird place for me.
Thanks for this post. I do think it’s time to stop telling stories about what works.
Hi Freddie, ICT features prominently in our Australian teacher standards despite even Hattie saying they don’t shift the needle. It’s part of a narrative about “the future”. I wrote about their prominence here https://rebeccabirch.substack.com/p/on-standards?r=5d1ba&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&utm_source=direct . I am also interested in the “future” trope in teaching. It really shapes the narrative and it’s unhelpful. https://rebeccabirch.substack.com/p/on-the-jobs-of-the-future
